Willimanitc -Nov. 7, 2006 - ELECTION DAY - As I got up this morning and the sweet aroma of coffee beans filled my apartment I realized it is that time again. Time to put an end to all those crazy ads about who will represent me here or there or anywhere.

As these thoughts of joy crossed my mind a little sadness came to be. For the last three weeks when I sat on my porch with a cup of coffee I would have visitors come up the long stair case to my porch for a chat. I have had every handout in town put in my pocket and two days ago I listened to the sweet voice of somebody I think either singing or preaching through a loud speaker system on their car like Jake and Elwwod did in the Blues Brothers Movie.

Now I wonder, why should it only be during a campaign that i feel like I am in Mayberry while sitting on my porch. This town has everything Mayberry has and more. We should stop the campaign ads and keep the campaign. It's going to the doors and being out among the people that one could truly know whom he or she is representing.

I am going to the polls this morning, I am Voting, as we all should, even if we just write in a pet's name (as Greg the genius says) becasue we still have that right and every vote counts. I am then coming home going to have a second cup of coffee and watch to see just who stops by this afternoon. If you were running for office this election round, feel free to stop say hi, I Love this town there is only just one. --- JD
